Perfect Day

What a beautiful day yesterday was. blue sky, the sun shining bright and 64 degrees!! My perfect kind of day. We took Dazi to play with one of her Christmas toys, a "Chunk It". I don't know who had more fun, Dazi or Tom. See pictures below. Dazi is such a sweet baby.

Later, Tom and I took advantage of a Christmas present that the girls gave us. A "date package" which included, "the little book of great dates", a journal-so we can write about our great dates and remember them! and most important, $$$. We went bowling and played 9 holes of glow in the dark minature golf. I belive my score for the first game of bowling was the same as the 9 holes of golf. 33!!!. Remember the idea of a great date is to have fun. I'm sure Tom had lots of fun...................laughing. I did a little better the second game, with 3 strikes and two spares I was able to break 100. (118)
All in all it was a wonderful day. I will never be ready to go back to work next week. I'm having too much fun.

Christmas with the Family

Christmas dinner at my oldest brother's home. 12 (+2) out of 18 present. Eighteen, that's the current number in our family to date. Paw Paw, Nanny, 4 siblings, 3 in-laws and 9 grand kids. With two pending weddings the number is growing. We enjoyed turkey and rack of lamb. My hat is off to my niece and nephew who I am told did all of the cooking. (They are also the two that are engaged, my niece's wedding is set for November 2009 and no date yet for my nephew's) Everyone had a nice time eating and visiting and eating.

Saturday, December 27. Lunch at my sister's home. 18 (+5) of 18 present. Thanks to Nanny and Paw Paw for the delicious bar b que. Two years ago we started a tradition of "Dirty Santa" for exchanging gifts. What fun!! We pick numbers and #1 goes first, they open the gift of their choosing and we're off and running. When it's your turn you can open a new gift or take one that has already been opened. If someone takes your gift you get to either take someone else's or open a new one and on and on we go. It really is a lot of fun and you learn how heartless your family can be when it comes to getting just the right gift. Of course it's all in a loving spirit. :)

So now Meghan has returned to her home, 50 miles away, and Hannah is busy taking down her tree at home, 1.2 miles away and the house is quiet........again. We will enjoy the slow pace of the next week before returning to work on the 5th of January. I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store for us.

Merry Christmas!!

OK, just as I am Patiently Awaiting Grandkids, I will ask your patience as I get this blog up and running. I am very excited, as Meghan, the oldest daughter, will verify, about this blog.

I am 46 years old and work part time as an administrative assistant at a Pre-K. In a past life I was a stay at home mom. No, I do not have anything against moms who work outside of the home. I just chose not to.

I am mom to Meghan, 25 and Hannah, 23. If you think I'm excited about this blog you should get the girls view on it. Remember the title, Patiently Awaiting Grandkids. I think, they feel the pressure building. I don't care how often I tell them that I really am PATIENTLY waiting. I am truly enjoying the empty nest days! So that's all of the "general info" I think you'll need to get us started.

Why? you may ask would I pick Christmas as the day to start a new blog. That's easy. Santa visited our house a day early this year, which is easy to do when everyone is over the age of 20. I think I could make that a tradition. We even had time to make the few exchanges that had to be done yesterday before the stores closed for the holiday. Now today we are just enjoying the peace of Christmas day. At least untill 4pm when it's time to head to my brother's place for family dinner. (I'll have to let you know how that goes.) Most important, the girls are here to place their stamp of approval on my first post before I hit the "publish post" button.

So here goes..........Publish Post
