We have a Vegetable Garden!

So some time back in April I surprised my Knight with 16 vegetable plants for the garden. One problem............we didn't have a garden. Second, we were still trying to finish up the deck. My Knight being my Knight and being use to my crazy ideas never blinked. That week end we rented a tiller and went to work. Well I did make the trip to Home Depot with him to get the tiller. After that Meghan showed up and took over. My Knight tilled and Meghan planted.

and we waited....... and waited................ and while we waited we planted flowers.......

And look what happened........
WE HAVE A VEGETABLE GARDEN

OH MY GOSH!!! 2 MONTHS!!!

WOW, time really does fly when you're having fun. Below are some of the reasons I haven't been blogging. They're not in order and I will have stories to go along with each at a later date. Patience.............

There was a ballgame at the oldest ball field in the nation in which professional baseball is still played.

And then there was this mess!

Of course we have to make time to enjoy the deck.

There are wineries to visit.

The garden and flower boxes
had to be planted.

The last day of Spring Training! Atlanta v Detorit.
A day spent with wonderful friends and great food at Frank's.

You won't believe this one.

A few days with family that we don't get to see near enough.
No he's not family!!
What breakfast started out as
and after it was rescued by my Knight.
OK, so I have been at this for over an hour. It's time for bed. I'll fill you in on all the details later.

Sharing my Sunshine

Some pics of the flowers my knight sent me:

Following are some of the wonderful drawings that one of the
Pre-K classes where I work did:

It seems that my flowers were also an inspiration to them. Thanks goes to Ms. A's and Ms. M's class.

So I haven't been blogging lately.......

and I don't really know why. But, I do know that I'm not the only one. Check out my nephew Aaron's post. I think he does a great job of describing the self imposed pressure of a blogger. There is also the post of a friend of Meghan's. I think this may be closer to how I'm feeling.

When I started this blog I really wanted it to be uplifting, funny, inspiring. Something you would look forward to reading. I just haven't been feeling any of those things and I'm blaming the weather.

Honestly, could it rain anymore? I think we need to start gathering up the animals, two by two! I NEED TO SEE THE SUN!! Several days of sunshine, all in a row, with temperatures in the 70s, would be great.

My knight has done what he can to bring sunshine into my life. On Thursday I received a wonderful bouquet of Sunflowers at work. He has also reminded me several times of what my father has always said, "It's just liquid sunshine." Well, I want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine without getting wet.

Please no comments on how badly we need this rain. No comments on the terrible drought we are in. I want the SUN! I need the SUN!

No Dogs Go to Heaven?!?

So, yesterday I received an email with pictures of two church signs. The email said that the churches were across the street from each other and were exchanges "thoughts" about rather or not dogs will be in heaven. The church signs, as it turns out, were not real. (You can make your own church sign picture at http://www.churchsigngenerator.com/ ) Anyway this has started me thinking. You mean some people really believe that there will be no animals in heaven! I'm just having a hard time with that. No birds singing. No deer roaming around. I guess I haven't been giving this enough thought. (I'm really behind on my Bible studies.) I've known several dogs that deserve a place in heaven before some humans. All of this, it seems, really comes down to whether or not you believe animals have a soul. You have to have a soul to get into heaven. This has really been bothering me. But, Rachael helped me out today. She found the following web site, http://ezinearticles.com/?My-Pastor-Said-Animals-Dont-Have-Souls&id=542474 . I like Gary Kurz. I was baptizied in a Baptist Church when I 16 years old, many years ago. In the years since then I've wondered if my personal beliefs really run true to the Baptist faith. One thing I do know, I like the way this Baptist preacher thinks and if I'm ever in the same town where Gary Kurz is preaching, I'm going!! No matter your belief, take a moment to look at the above site. I think he makes some good arguments. Ritzi, if I make it to heaven I'm sure you'll be waiting for me.

Thankful Sunday

After over two years of talking about it. I have a fence around my deck!! Something I wouldn't need if not for this:

This has been our neighbor for the past two years. Before our new neighbor moved in we had a nice wooded lot across the street. I still remember every spring when the girls would go pick wildflowers. Well, the girls grew up and we got a new neighbor. We have not enjoyed our deck much during the past two years and boy have I missed it!! I can't wait for the finishing touches. We are also adding a 8'x16' space for Tom's cooking stuff. More pics to come when the deck is complete.

So what am I thankful for? Kenneth, the man behind my deck!!

And of course my Knight, for paying the bill!! Thanks Kenneth and Tom.

I'm back!

Yes, I've been out of touch for a while. I just haven't felt like myself. Nothing more than a cold but it came with an awful cough. Now I'm feeling much better. Rachael says that's because I gave her my cold and cough! Anyway, I didn't think that whining about it here would help. I was going to make this a nice long post to make up for the last two weeks but, sorry, I got a better offer. Dinner and a movie with my knight. Sorry again, but I've got a life to live.

Thankful Sunday on Sunday!!

This week it has to be Meghan's and Hannah's relationship: Honestly if they were not sisters I don't think they would ever be friends but, as sisters they are the best of friends. They respect each other and their differences and believe me there are MANY differences. They love spending time together and they make time for each other. Nothing about their lives are the same except for the fact that they are both young, successful ladies living on their own. The way they go about doing this is as different as night and day. They know each others' needs better than anyone and they allow for that. Hannah is great about packing up and going to Meghan's for the week end because Meghan seems to have a harder time leaving "her space". Meghan is great to let Hannah sleep in while she takes care of the dogs early in the morning because you don't want Hannah starting the day on a lack of sleep. Meghan tells me all the time that she thinks her sister is the funniest person she knows and Hannah is more than happy to keep Meghan laughing after one of Meghan's many long and trying days as a DFCS worker. I am thankful they have each other and I am sure that when the time comes they will be able to work out the biggest difference in opinion that they have: Who gets Momma and Daddy when they can't take care of themselves. : ) Remember girls your momma and daddy love you!!

Happy Anniversary

This is what I came home to on Friday afternoon.

Tom had planned a surprise week end getaway for our 28th anniversary. He did all the work, of course, so all I had to do was enjoy it. I don't think I disappointed him.

My knight cooking for me.

Breakfast anyone?

Our 50 pound lap dog had a great time also! Isn't she a sweet baby.

The view from the hammock.

Time for a snack.

Dazi and her monkey.

And then the week end came to an end. I'm now looking forward to the next 28!

P.S. See I had a good reason for missing my Sunday thankful list.
